BONUS EPISODE 27 - The Woman King Debate ft. Akin Akinsiku, Chantelle Lewis & Nadine Haughton

A few weeks back in the BCC What's App group, a debate arose regarding The Woman King and how it represents Black women. The views varied massively,  some thought it was a bad representation of black women and others believed it was empowering, whilst some members thought the entire storyline was incorrect and misrepresented what actually took place in history.

Alicia thought it would be a great and healthy idea to talk about these different opinions and combine this into a BONUS podcast episode.

Alicia got together with her best friend Nadine, who felt empowered by The woman king and is all for women leadership and power; Akin who is a creative director from the film industry who understands the truth about Dahomey and Chantelle who is the Co-founder of Mango studios and highly passionate about Gender and race equality.

This episode explores:

-The representation of The Woman king
-Black women in society
-Film Creativity, what are the boundaries ?
-Gender roles in leadership
-How Black stories should be told to the world
